Jason's Kitchen and Dining Room and Our In Christ Alone Oversized Signs

(For those of you that are new here Jason is my brother who runs Dear Lillie with me). We still plan on adding a storage piece to the dining room, some artwork and possibly a rug but all of the big projects are officially done. We've done a few things to his living room and <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/lillie-and-lolas-old-fashioned-new.html">the girls' room</a> and now with the kitchen and dining room out of the way we are excited to be able to start on the hallway, Jason's room and the extra little room, and then hopefully make more progress on the living room and girls' bedroom. We will be getting to work on those later this summer and I can't wait. For now though I want to share all the before and afters of what we've done in the kitchen and dining room. <br /><br />We stuck with a basic black, white and gray color scheme for the whole house which works well for Jason year round and then when the girls' and I are up there we can add in more feminine touches like flowers and dishes. I think it goes without saying that Jason doesn't go out and cut fresh flowers every morning - haha! <br /><br />(And just to warn you this is a very picture heavy post - I tried to take photos from pretty much every angle of both of the rooms. Along with working on getting the girl's bedroom ready so we can stay there on our next visit (which I will share pictures of hopefully next week) we also made some progress in the kitchen and dining room. The <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/jasons-kitchen-and-dining-room.html">last time</a> I showed you Jason's kitchen we'd made quite bit of progress but still needed to add the finishing touches. Since <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/jasons-kitchen-and-dining-room.html">then</a> we were able to purchase a marble remnant and have it installed on the island top which was quite excited about! Then I added some faux roman shades using a shower curtain from Target that I cut up. You can read a little more about the <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/our-faux-roman-shade.html">roman shade I made in our kitchen here in this post</a> that includes a link to a tutorial. And then we were able to replace the old light with this fabulous little chandelier from <a href="http://www.wayfair.com/Chandeliers-C215419.html" rel="nofollow">Wayfair</a>! I knew I liked this chandelier when I first found it on their website but I was a little bit nervous if it was going to be the right look in here. Now that it is up though I think it might be my favorite update in the room. And I really love how it balances out the lantern in the dining room. I LOVE this Bolton Lantern from Pottery Barn. We bought it after Christmas when they were having a lighting sale. We've been talking about putting down a wood floor in here to match the rest of the house (the rest of the house has hardwoods) but not only is that a big project, it's an expensive one. We really wanted to get the carpet up though and get rid of the linoleum in the kitchen and make the two spaces look more cohesive. We had a few ideas for some temporary plans until we could do the wood but weren't crazy about any of them. Then after I tried the peel and stick vinyl in our laundry room I told Jason about them and we decided to go ahead and give them a try.  Jason got the carpet up and then his girlfriend, Brie helped him put it down. (I'm pretty sure she did most of the work!) I can't believe what a difference it makes for the two rooms! In the dining room I am hoping to build something for this bare wall you can see below and possibly some kind of bench for the far window (in the picture above) or I may look for a narrow sideboard - not sure exactly.
